Standard Room vs Basic Room

What is the difference between a Standard Room and a Basic Room?

Trying to decide what room to book? See the differences in price between a Standard Room and a Basic Room, but not quite sure exactly what it means? Let TravelStay guide you down this room type highway!

Standard Room is a room with its own private bathroom. Almost all accommodations feature a Standard Room with an ensuite bathroom, but a few offer a private bathroom outside of the room. Either way, your party will be the only ones using that bathroom when you book a Standard Room.

Basic Room is one without its own bathroom. You will share the bathroom facilities with other rooms. The number of people sharing these bathrooms will vary based upon the size of the accommodation and the number of these bathrooms that they have. This is especially common in small B&Bs and hostel accommodations.

If you don't like sharing, a Standard Room with its own private bathroom might be the way to go! If you are looking to save a little money for your time exploring or to upgrade your meal, you may opt to go with a Basic Room and share the bathroom with others.

Remember though: Not all accommodations have the option to choose and may only offer one or the other. But if you need any help with your search, contact our Customer Service Team anytime 24 hours a day.  We're always happy to help!
